On February 15, 2025, Chairman Mr. Peng Yizhong led the Shanghai Jianhang delegation to arrive in Awka, the capital of Anambra State. Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Secretary to the State Government of Anambra, presided over the welcome ceremony on behalf of the state government and extended a warm reception to the delegation.
On the morning of February 16, the delegation held a specialized technical briefing with Engr. Sunny Okoye, Managing Director/CEO of Orient Petroleum Resources Plc (OPR), and Engr. Iyke Akuezumba, Deputy Managing Director. Discussions focused on cooperation pathways for the construction of a natural gas-fired power plant, oil and gas resource development, and the development of Anambra International Airport and its aerotropolis.
That afternoon, the delegation conferred with Dr. Ejike Osisioma, CEO of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), and his team on industrial policy. They systematically reviewed the state’s prime investment projects and reached strategic consensus on cooperation in agricultural modernization, high-end manufacturing, and cultural tourism.
On February 17, the delegation conducted an on-site assessment of Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, focusing on runway and ancillary facilities. They then visited the Agulu Lake Hotel to evaluate its operations and feasibility for expansion. That afternoon, the team toured the proposed site for the Dream World Resort and the poultry farm, engaging with state officials on land use planning, infrastructure support, and future operation models.
