(Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria)
On October 16, 2026, Shanghai Jianhang Investment Co., Ltd. and its Nigerian partner completed two signings in Benin City, Edo State: a joint venture to build a disinfectant plant and the establishment of a joint headquarters. The former focuses on project implementation, while the latter is aimed at long-term collaboration.
The disinfectant plant will be located in Benin City, with construction and operation managed by a joint venture company established by both parties. Its product range will cover disinfectants and personal care disinfectant products. Nigeria has long relied on imports for basic medical disinfectant products, leaving a notable gap in local supply. Under the plan, the project will initially serve the Edo State market and, with Edo State as its center, gradually expand to the broader Nigerian and West African markets.
Signed alongside the project agreement was a memorandum of understanding on establishing a joint headquarters. Under the agreement, both parties will jointly manage the group company through a complementary and mutually supportive management model. This means their cooperation is no longer confined to individual projects but has evolved into a closer collaborative relationship at the group level, providing a unified governance interface for advancing multiple projects going forward.
From a single disinfectant plant to a joint headquarters mechanism, Shanghai Jianhang's footprint in Nigeria is shifting from point investments toward systematic operations. Once the project is operational, local supply of basic medical disinfectant products will gain an additional localized source, and the partnership between both parties will rest on a more stable institutional foundation.
